Driverless LED means that all lights in the field are passive components, without failure prone driver electronics. PECS directly controls the luminous output of the LED, enabling robust and simplified, yet sophisticated lighting infrastructure. ELLED™ Airfield Ground Lighting system is suitable for both existing and new installations, providing a solution throughout the airside from approach to the apron. The system consists of ELLED™ bulbs or lights powered by ELLEGO™ PECS, providing superior energy efficiency, easy maintenance, and high reliability.
ELLED™ retrofit is a possibility for almost all halogen installations in the market, reusing light fixtures, cabling, connectors, and transformers. At the bare minimum only bulbs and power supply will be changed. Each retrofit case will be separately considered and verified before commitment.
Driverless ELLED™ technology enables a highly efficient operation and lower lifecycle costs. The system is designed to comply with ICAO light intensity requirements with nominal currents between 1,0 and 3,0 A. The system has three main elements: ELLEGO™ PECS, ELLED™ bulbs and ELLED™ driverless light fixtures. Reusing existing cables, connectors, and isolation transformers allows the economic transition from halogen to LED lighting.
The ELLED™ system enables a long service life due to its driverless design without control electronics in field components. It is a quick and easy access to fundamental LED efficiency. Low series circuit currents give your existing cabling an extended lifetime and enable cable and transformer size optimization in new installations. The IGBT controlled primarily current means less insulation stress, and a longer lifetime for the AGL cabling. The ELLEGO™ PECS has many features making operation and maintenance easy.
The 2023 published series circuit power supply standard, the IEC 61820-3-2, defines a new device category for modern AGL power supplies. These power supplies may operate with other than the traditional 6.6 A current levels and have typically been designed to specifically operate LED-based AGL fixtures.
ELLEGO™ is actively participating in IEC standards development and other AGL related developments.
