This summer ELLEGO completed a full airfield lighting upgrade at Hagfors Airport, modernizing the approach and runway circuits with ELLEGO’s driverless LED technology.
The existing approach and runway edge light fixtures were upgraded to LED using ELLED LED bulbs and retrofit kits. The threshold and runway end lights were upgraded to all new ELLED light fixtures.
The constant current regulators were also replaced with ELLEGO Hybrid PECS/CCR units. These hybrid units can power both low-current driverless LED lights and existing 6.6 A halogen PAPI circuits with the same device model, providing the flexibility to combine legacy and novel technologies with minimal complexity.
ELLED™ driverless LED technology provides a reliable way to modernize existing airfield lighting infrastructure without replacing complete light fixtures. Its low current operation significantly reduces energy consumption, while the long service life of LED technology helps lower maintenance requirements, operational disruptions and lifecycle costs.
A test flight confirmed the expected bright and even operation of the lights that has become the signature feature of ELLED based AGL.
